Midtown OMS is proud to welcome Dr. Amy McFarling, who joined the practice in 2023. Her areas of interest in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, pathology, and orthognathic surgery make her an ideal addition to the Midtown team. She brings a full range of specialty experience and knowledge to our patient population. Born in Austin, Dr. McFarling was raised in Waco, Texas. She is the youngest child of two healthcare professionals, who met at Brackenridge Hospital (now Dell Seton Medical Center).

Dr. McFarling is a graduate of UT Austin, where she majored in mathematics and marched in the Longhorn Band’s color guard. She then attended dental school at the University of California at San Francisco, followed by medical school at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. She completed her OMS residency and general surgery internship at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Perez and Dr Edward Ellis III.

Dr. McFarling earned a black belt in karate at age 10, which came in handy with two older brothers. She is also a nature lover who enjoys whale watching on the West coast, keeps her distance from bees, and loves photos of her patients’ pets. Her favorite movies are “Remember the Titans” and “Mean Girls”. She will be the first to admit that she knows a little too much about Spongebob Squarepants
